The date 3/21 is significant to Down Syndrome, as it represents the 3 copies of chromosome 21, which is unique to people with Downs Syndrome. Mismatch socks are commonly worn on World Down Syndrome Day as a way to celebrate our differences. By embracing our differences, we come together and create a brighter community, and inclusion for all.

Peer Support Group for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: The initiative is a collaboration among University of Southern Maine, The Center for Grieving Children, Portland Children Museum and Theater, Hannaford, and Counseling and Trauma Therapy Associates. This welcoming group will meet every Wednesday in April at The Center for Grieving Children in Portland, Maine, at no cost to participants. South Portland High School seniors Amelia and Lily competed as members of the consolidated Bayside High Rollers team. In the championship match, the Bayside High Rollers secured the title with an exciting finish, stringing together six consecutive strikes to seal the victory! 🎳

Black History Month was celebrated in February at South Portland High School with a Spirit Week, a panel discussion, and an all-school assembly hosted by the SPHS Black Student Union (BSU). After a 14 week course focused on English and Hospitality, including mock interviews with industry professionals, all 11 South Portland Adult Education students achieved certificates from the American Hotel and Lodging Association through the Bridge to Hospitality Careers program and are now Certified Guest Service Professionals!
