National Poetry Month is wrapping up...and so is the City of South Portland's youth poetry contest! ✨✍🏼 South Portland High School and Middle School students: Enter the "Our Future South Portland" Poetry Contest! Over 104,000 minutes were read school-wide during the annual Read-a-thon at Small Elementary in March, exceeding both reading and fundraising goals! 📖 Everyone had a fantastic time celebrating with students earning prizes and teachers fulfilling silly challenges, like getting duct-taped to the wall or a pie to the face.

Caleb Gray, SPHS SRO, is one of the 2025 Public Health Award Winners! He received the Unsung Hero Award from Maine Public Health Association, which recognizes an individual, department or organization who has positively influenced public health in Maine from behind the scenes.

Last week, SPHS business students got to compete in the Junior Achievement Titan Challenge! Students were invited to compete in a simulation-based program where groups competed as business CEOs in the phone industry, experiencing firsthand how an organization evaluates alternatives, makes decisions, analyzes the outcomes of those decisions, and then strategizes what to do next.
