South Portland Summer Meal Program
Join South Portland this summer at South Portland Middle School (120 Wescott Road) for free meals when school is out. Breakfasts and lunches will be provided at no cost to all children 18 and under.
Meals will be provided to children 18 and under at a first come, first serve basis, at the site and times as follows:
South Portland Middle School
Operating Dates: July 7 to August 14, 2025 (Closed on Fridays)
Meals are only for children under 18 years of age
All meals must be eaten on site; No grab and go option
Breakfast meal time: 8 AM to 9:30 AM
Lunch meal time: 11 AM to 12:30 PM
Meals will be provided to all children 18 and under without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, or age and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. The Locker Project will also be onsite every Tuesday while lunch is being served (11 AM to 12:30 PM) and provide free fresh produce for families to take home.
SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks (also known as Summer EBT) is a federal grocery benefit for students that eligible families receive once a year during school summer vacation. Most students will be determined eligible for SUN Bucks based on their eligibility for other programs. Those students are automatically enrolled by the Office for Family Independence (OFI) and their families will be notified before June 15, 2025.
What does this mean for school-aged kids?
SUN Bucks can help pay for groceries over the summer while school is out.
Families receive a one-time EBT benefit of $120 for each child who qualifies.
Most eligible families will be automatically enrolled and don’t have to apply!
If you already receive SNAP or TANF, OR if you received SUN Bucks or P-EBT in the past, your child’s SUN Bucks benefit will be loaded right onto that card. If you haven’t received any of these benefits previously, you will receive a new EBT card with instructions in the mail. Benefits will be available June 6th.
