The Board of Education, comprised of seven voting members elected by the voters of South Portland and two non-voting high school student representatives elected by their peers, has general charge of the South Portland School Department as set forth in policy BBA and as specifically required by law. The Board of Education’s primary roles include setting policy, approving budget and hiring and evaluating the superintendent.
