SPHS 2012 Construction Update - January / February 2013

Project Update:
It has been a busy couple of months with construction continuing on the SPHS addition.  Crews have worked throughout January and February during and around snowstorms which has helped to bring the project back to being on schedule.

In the accompanying pictures you will see significant steel detailing continuing.  On Friday, February 15th, PC Construction held a traditional "Topping Off" Ceremony.  The significance of celebrating the raising of one of the last steel beams recognizes the hard work of the steel erectors and the "luck" that has held throughout the project.  Students, Building Committee Members, City Officials and Staff joined the crew from PC Construction and architects from Harriman in celebrating this stage of the project.

The new three story classroom wings are beginning to take shape behind Beal Gym and connecting to the Lecture Hall, Cafeteria and Kitchen areas.  In the classroom wings, slabs and decks are being poured with radiant heat tubing being installed.  Exterior sheathing and brick veneer placement is occurring all moving toward closing in the new addition areas of this project.

In the Kitchen area, the hood and exhaust duct work has been installed and the walk-in freezer/cooler was put together.  In the accompanying pictures you can see the freezer/cooler panels prior to assembly.  Interior painting is also beginning in the cafeteria/kitchen area.

Activities Planned for the next month include:

Completing locker room interior masonry on the first level behind Beal Gym.
