§ Stripping of the existing play fields has begun.
§ Phase 1 blasting is almost complete.
§ Pile driving will begin this week and continue over the next 6 weeks.
§ Back of Beal Gym demolition is almost complete.
§ Abatement inside the building is continuing. Abatement of an underground steam line has been completed.
§ Foundations for Area F (Cafeteria, Lecture Hall, Library) are continuing.
§ Permanent power service has been completed off Highland Avenue transformer.
§ Mass excavation of Areas A, B, D (New Classroom Wing) is occurring to ready the area for footings and pile driving.
§ Site utilities and storm retention at student parking has begun.
§ Demolition of the auditorium metal front is occurring. The contractor will be attempting to salvage the lettering over the auditorium.
The construction schedule calls for renovations to Beal Gymnasium to begin after the 2012-2013 basketball season and be completed prior to the 2013-2014 season. While this schedule secures space for the basketball season, it leaves us without a back-up space for Graduation 2013. SMCC has graciously offered the use of their gym in case of inclement weather for the 2013 Graduation. A huge thank you to SMCC for their generosity.
