December Project Updates:
The project has really taken shape over the past month. There are approximately 70-80 workers on site daily. Sections of the work area are being enclosed to allow for work to continue throughout the winter. You will also see areas covered by blankets to keep the cold out, one of the challenges of winter work in Maine. Below are some updates on the work that is currently occuring.
Area F - Permanent roofing is going on over the Cafeteria, Kitchen and Lecture Hall area. Currently interior partition framing and drywall has begun in this area
Area A - In the classroom wing behind Beal Gym you'll see three levels of structural steel and concrete slab work being completed. This area includes, locker rooms and offices on the first level, the weight room and fitness rooms on the second level, and Science labs on the third level.
Area B - moving toward the existing courtyard area, a major hurdle was addressed with the movement of the boiler smoke stack guy-wire. The stairs for the stairwell in the back corner by Beal Gym will be arriving the first of the new year.
In January gas heaters will be installed in areas A and F allowing for indoor work to be occurring. Structural steel erection will continue in Area B and D (the new main lobby and learning commons area)
