February 15, 2007
MEETING NOTES

Present: Dennis Welch, Ralph Baxter, Scott Pakulski, Wendy Houlihan, Kevin Woodhouse, Jake Viola, Dan Cecil, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Ellen Brasier, Ralph Cabana, Randy Martin, Jeanne Crocker, Suzanne Godin, Ralph Baxter, Jr., Kathy Germani, Molly Aldrich and Polly Ward.
- Welcome - review of agenda
- Wendy introduced Suzanne Godin as next Superintendent of Schools
- Approval of minutes from February 1, 2007
- The minutes were approved with one change
- June-July
Voter Registration at SPHS - not at Project Graduation
- Update re questions from last meeting
- School Board accepted the plan with great thanks to the Committee
- The plans for the High School were displayed outside the Auditorium and Jake attended 6 Footloose productions and answered questions about the plan
- Wendy distributed Questions/Comments for School Design that were collected at Footloose
i. Costs associated with sequence of construction schedule if Beal gym is renovated
- Scott handed out an analysis of the new Gym v. Beal Gym
- The Total Beal Gym Renovation needs to be revised to include costs of elevator and new bleachers - probably about $150,000
- Need to know how much seating will be lost if have to replace the bleachers with accessible bleachers
- Current bleachers no longer have locking mechanisms to lock them in place when open
- Cannot bring bleachers out the entire way when teams are seated along the side
- If renovate the Beal gym we need to add additional spaces that have been included with the new gym
ii. Consequence of loss of gym for an extended period of time
- If renovate the Beal Gym will be beginning in June 2010 and last for 8-9 months
- Impact on the Recreation Department during the summer months
- Impact on the Phys Ed program for the entire period of time
- Impact on Athletic program and practice times
iii. Looking for electronic schemes that can be posted on web
- Dan handed out a list of items that he suggest should be on the website
iv. Cost of new gym vs fully upgrading Beal
- See sheet Scott provided - needs to be updated based on Committee comments
- Timeline: First steps to consider getting materials & figures ready to send to City Council for June CIP
- Meet with Planning Board before presentation of CIP
- Meet with Council in March/April for workshop on the project
- Review of timeline steps from last meeting: Additions / Changes
- Ralph Baxter provided data on the age ranges for people who vote absentee ballot
- Timeline suggestions - add to work plan
