1. Welcome - review of agenda.
2. Approval of minutes from October 26, 2006.
3. Recap of discussion / next steps from prior meeting.
- Recap...
- DEP meeting is scheduled for 12/19/2006 - will need to have DEP input before we can arrive at site costs
a. Ways to consolidate the site.
b. North Annex analysis and recommendation.
- Dan showed the additional foundation beams that would be necessary to meet current code
- This demonstrates that the Annex is not worth saving
- Second and third floor decks are laying on top of joists but are not attached to them
- Concrete block walls are not stiffened
- With the structural drawings, it is clear that cannot bring the annex up to code economically - would be cheaper to tear down and rebuild
G-1 Scheme
- Developed because E-8 had been squeezed down as far as possible so there was not much of anything left to save in terms of money. E-8 would require a significant amount of ledge removal
- Would need approximately 30 trailers for G-1 - this plan would permit direct access to and from the building as well as heat for the trailers from the building.
- Continuing to review the number of trailers and the duration of the need for trailers.
c. Updates on preliminary cost estimates of current schemes.
- Don't have site work estimates yet - have part of the survey but not the DEP requirements
4. Consideration / discussion of information provided.
- Committee decided to include the new gym with the building referendum - unanimous, one abstention
- Committee will continue to consider renovation of Beal Gym
5. Next Steps
i. Review of survey and technical issues (January 4th meeting).
ii. Work toward committee consensus on proposal and referendum date to recommend to the Board of Education.
- Timing of Referendum - would hope that we could go to referendum in June 2007
- Ralph Baxter, Sr., suggested that we would do better on referendum if more people voted which would mean going out in November
iii. Establish meeting dates and proposed schedule of agenda content, mid-January - June 2007.
iv. Agenda items for next meeting (January 4, 2007).
Next meeting: January 4, 2007 from 6.30-8.30 p.m. in the South Portland High School Library
