- To get much smaller, would have to start cutting rooms, common spaces and corridors.
Technical issues
4. Should we pursue alternative schemes?
Dave said that he is not going to wear a tuxedo and have holes in his socks - this is in reference to changing the plan to make it fix an arbitrary amount.
Ralph Baxter Sr. spoke in favor of keeping the new gym.
Mark Reuscher - seeing this and all the work done, it doesn’t make any sense to build a school that does not get us what we need.
Ralph Baxter Jr. - to make the plan for an arbitrary amount would have to cut things that shouldn't be cut. The number is what it is to get the school that we need.
Craig Roberts - have to go with your best effort to get the best building.
5. Other
Have located the long sought annex drawings - were able to obtain from Bob Howe.
- Provide considerable information about the foundation of the Annex and 1930's building
State Board of Education has created a committee to review and revise the rating system for school construction
- This may delay the next application cycle to potentially 12/07
6. Next meeting: December 7, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 p.m. in the South Portland High School Library
Items to be covered:
