1.Welcome - review of agenda

2.Approval of Minutes from September 21, 2006

  • Approved

3.Elaboration and further consideration of Scheme E1

  • Harriman has been working to compact the E-1 scheme.

  • Site people working to identify a place for a detention pond.
    • We will need to have an additional detention pond due to the addition of impervious hard surface.
  • Scott and Eric have met with Kevin Woodhouse to discuss the field issues.

  • Area under the Gym that includes the locker rooms has a lot of ledge.

  • Should all administrators be in the entry core or spread in different areas of the building?

  • Nick brought up the difficulty of having the different activities of the Robotics program in a single area- would be preferable to have four workspaces.

  • Reviewed the site plan for the fields that was developed as a result of a meeting with Kevin and Jeanne.

  • Dan will meet with Kevin and Parks and Rec to talk about the fields, especially the softball field- Mark will be part of the meeting.

  • This site plan for the fields has reduced the number of parking spaces- still more than are required- Scott is working to expand the number of spaces.

  • Dave pointed out that maintenance needs storage for mowers, ladders, etc.
    • May be accommodated by the Service Yard on the lower level in Scheme E-1
    4.Next Steps

  • Cost Estimates
    • Right now in the high $40M's for site and buildings - this represents almost 80% of the total project costs
    • To get down to a total project cost of about $40M, would have to consider having more renovations instead of new construction.
    • New Gym is almost $1-1 ½ M more than renovation of Beals Gym
  • Next steps for Harriman

    • Try to further compress the E-1Scheme and get more geotechnical data
  • Next meeting: October 12, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 p.m. in the South Portland High School Library
