June 1, 2006


MEETING NOTES

Present: Dennis Welch, Ralph Baxter, Jr., Steve Bailey, Wendy Houlihan, Dan Cecil, Dave Brochu, Jake Viola, Randy Martin, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Mark Reuscher, Kevin Woodhouse, Sylvia Green, Jeanne Crocker, Maxine Beecher, Kathy Germani, Coral Sandler, Megan Welter, Molly Aldrich and Polly Ward.

Harriman Associates: Eric Potvin and Dan Robbins.

Board of Education: James Gilboy and Rick Carter.

1. Welcome: Review of Agenda

  • Wendy asked for a moment of silence in memory of Nancy Carroll

    2. Approval of minutes from May 18, 2006

  • Approved

    3. Detailed Cost estimates w/Consideration of Timeline

  • Dan reviewed the total project budget as of 6/1/06 - these are very preliminary figures.
    • Dan will bring detail on the site costs to the next meeting.
    • Dan said that they could look at energy efficiencies such as wind power, solar power and maybe geo-thermal.

  • Other areas of concern
    • Natural Gas vs. Oil - have a 2" gas line - would need a 4” line.
    • Fire pumps - may need a new one due to the size of the lines.
    • Food Service Equipment - prices came back higher than one would expect

  • Estimates
    • Prices have escalated due to demand overseas, especially China and India.
    • It is unclear when prices will stabilize.

  • Will bring a scheme that flips the project to the next meeting (the Germani Scheme).

  • Current total project number is a draft number - not verified yet

    4. Brief Review of Schematics and Phasing implications

    5. Recommendation of plan/ideas to Board of Education for consideration

  • For our work going forward, come up with the best plan we can.

    6. Next Steps including updated SSFC meeting schedule

  • No meeting on June 8, 2006

  • Next meeting June 22, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 in the SPHS Library

  • Wendy shared the schedule for June - December 2006
