Present: Dennis Welch, Wendy Houlihan, Dave Brochu, Randy Martin, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Mark Reuscher, Kevin Woodhouse, Jeanne Crocker, Kathy Germani, Coral Sandler, Ralph Baxter Sr., Ellen Brasier, Ralph Cabana, Margaret Esten and Craig Roberts.

1. Welcome - review of agenda

  • Wendy welcomed, had everyone introduce themselves, and reviewed agenda

    2. Approval of minutes from June 1, 2006

  • Minutes of June 1, 2006 approved

    3. Consideration of "new ideas / location" for SPHS renovations

  • Mark Lee and Scott Pakulski reviewed new scheme based on Germani/Cook idea (handouts included)
    • Mark will send via email the list of pros and cons
    • Site considerations
      • New construction on good soils
      • Infringement on athletic fields
      • Delivery to kitchen requires trucks entering by classrooms

  • Building Layout considerations
    • Sprawling, loses circular flow of original proposal
    • Loss of increased security in original proposal (many doors and multiple entrances)
    • Distance between classrooms and gym problematic
    • Discussion of eliminating 30s construction: 3 strongly opposed to eliminating sacred cow; others need more information
    • Discussion of other uses of 30s wing (e.g. Superintendent's Office)

    4. Next Steps - agenda items for next meeting

  • Revise the new scheme
    • Loop building together on the field side of the gym and auditorium
    • Add another 47,000 square feet to show what would be needed if 30s wing eliminated
  • Next meeting July 6, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 in the SPHS Library
