March 30, 2006

1. Welcome, Introductions of committee members, review of agenda
Introduction of members
2. Approval of minutes from March 16, 2006
Postponed until April 6, 2006
3. Distribution of spring 2006 schedule of meetings
January-June 2006 schedule handed out
4. Revisioning SPHS for 2020 and beyond
School of about 1,000 students now
One teacher in each content area does not have his/her own classroom
Plan has to have flexibility
9th grade teams - Smaller Learning Communities
- Current building structure does not reflect the needs of these 9th grade teams.
Need to have a building that will better enable communication.
Committee reviewed "A Plan for Flexibility"
- Discussion about the various components of flexible classroom structure.
Dan shared his notes from a meeting that took place on March 14, 2006 with Jeanne Crocker and others.
Agreeement that the committee supports the idea of smaller learning communities in the high school.
Technology Committee Handout
- Will be meeting with the Technology Committee on April 7, 2006.
- The Department of Education is rewriting its standards on technology programming.
- Will continue to review the Technology Committee handout as the Technology Committee works on it.
5. Next steps - plans for April 6 meeting
Next meeting, we will talk about security/technology issues at the high school.
Between now and the next meeting Committee members should review the March 30, 2006 drawings compared to the Space Allocation workbook.
The new Committee members need the schemes that were handed out during the March 16, 2006 meeting.
Next Meeting: April 6, 2005 from 6.30-8.30 in the SPHS Library
