Present: Sylvia Green, Ralph Baxter, Jr., Dave Brochu, Ralph Baxter, Sr., Ralph Cabana, Steve Bailey, Dan Cecil, Maxine Beecher, Wendy Houlihan, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Ellen Brasier, Jeanne Crocker, Dennis Welch, Mark Reuscher, Mark Lee, Craig Roberts, Megan Welter, Randy Martin, Polly Ward.

1. Welcome, Introduction of committee members, review of agenda

  • Introduction of members - Introduction of four of our new members.

  • New list of committee members handed out

    • If there are any changes or modifications to this list, please get to Steve so that we can get a corrected list out by the next meeting.

  • Wendy reviewed the process that got us to this point.
    • Goal is to get the projects ready to go to the Board of Education and the Council in June 2006.
    • Wendy will get copies of the Harriman report of December 15, 2005 to the new members.

    2. Approval of minutes from February 16, 2006 and March 1, 2006
    Review of Board of Education action taken March 2, 2006

  • February 16, 2006 - Approved

  • March 1, 2006 - Approved

    5. Review of School Design Strategies within the Recently Completed Study

  • Steve handed out page 4 and pages 8-16 of the Harriman Report of December 15, 2005.

  • Dan reviewed the development of the Guiding School Design Strategies.

    4. Proposed SPHS floor plan-does this still apply?

  • Current plan is very preliminary, need to feel free to make changes as the educational needs get more clearly defined.

  • Discussion of cafeteria and kitchen placement.

    5. Meetings held - meetings to be held (by Harriman Associates)

  • Meetings are scheduled with High School staff

  • Will be meeting with City staff

    6. Technical visits and review of systems

  • Setting up technical studies

    7. Planning for technology-moving forward in the 21st Century

  • Jeanne has set up a meeting for April 7, 2006 on technology.

    9. Next meeting: March 30, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 in the SPHS Library

  • Ideas to think about for the next meeting
    • Preserving the front entrance to the High School
    • More information about parking spaces
