February 16, 2006

Present: Wendy Houlihan, Ralph Baxter, Sr., Ralph Cabana, Dennis Welch, Steve Bailey, Dave Brochu, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Mark Reuscher, Ralph Baxter, Jr., Lloyd Crocker, Kathy Germani, Polly Ward.

1. Welcome

2. Approval of minutes from December 15th 2005 meeting

  • Correct Maxine Beecher's name.

  • Approved with correction

    3. Review of recent meetings

    a. Board of Education Workshop, January 18, 2006

  • Held after the meeting of January 9th 2006 at which the Committee's recommendations were brought forward.

    b. Board of Education - City Council Joint Workshop, February 1, 2006

  • To keep the Council informed
  • Good questions/Good presentation

    c. Board of Education Meeting and Action, February 13, 2006

  • Board voted to accept the recommendations of the Committee

    4. Posting of RFQ (Request for Qualifications)

  • Posted an RFQ in anticipation of the Board’s action to hire an architect for the design, referendum and project management.

  • Site visits were February 14th 2006 - 9 firms attended the site visit.

  • Time line is in the packet tonight.

    Special meeting of SSFC at 6.30 on March 1st 2006 before the Budget Workshop to act on the recommendations of the Interview Committee.

  • Kathy Germani volunteered to participate on the Interview Committee.

  • Ralph Baxter, Sr may be available to be on the Interview Committee - he will check and let us know.

    Interview Committee will meet on the morning of February 28th 2006 at 8AM

  • Must interview three firms according to BGS regulations.

    5. Next Steps

  • Proposed meeting schedule provided

  • May want to reassess the committee membership and add some new people. Some suggestions were:

      o A suggestion was made for a high school student or more than one - ask the Student Senate.
      o Elementary parents - ask the building principals
      o A couple of high school teachers
      o Middle School Student(s)



    Next Meeting: March 16th, 2006 from 6.30-8.30 in the SPHS Library
