Present: Wendy Houlihan, Ralph Baxter, Jr., Dave Brochu, Ralph Baxter, Sr., Jeanne Crocker, Megan Welter, Dennis Welch, Ralph Cabana, Maxine Beecher, Dan Cecil, Kathy Germani, Carrie Hall-Indorf, Mary McMullin, Mark Reuscher, Mark Lee, Polly Ward.

1. Welcome and review of agenda

2. Approval of minutes from September 15, 2005

  • Approved

    3. Review of revised documents for use with Community Forums

  • Wendy handed out the materials to be distributed at the Community Forums- Pros of 1 Middle School and 2 Middle Schools- revised option sheet for feedback
    • Script for introduction to community forums
    • Draft dates for community meetings
      • Some dates conflict

  • Committee suggested some changes to the list of Pros and the script for introduction to community forums
    • Maybe each forum or meeting should develop own list of pros for each of the options
      • Then ask the participants to rate the suggested pros

  • Important to say right up front how much we did not spend on the elementary schools project- we did not bond $10 million of the amount approved

  • Project description- came out of last meeting's discussion

    • Jack- the cost of transporting all Middle School students to one Middle School at Memorial site
    • Dave- take current costs/sq. foot and translate the square footage of the one Middle School
    • Polly will ask Rob about the cost of the projects based on current interest rate
    • Add a little more information on the upgrades needed to provide up-to-date educational programs into the future
    • Dan will revise before the end of next week
    • Dan provided a schedule that models impact of applying for State funding
    • Need to answer the question if there is an educational benefit to having a single middle school
    • Multiple ways to advertise the community meetings, e.g.posters, web site
    • Call the Sentry to put the dates of community meetings in the paper
    • Put dates on SPTV
